Large fire fighting exercise at the Sankt Blasien site

The venue for a large-scale exercise by the local fire brigade of Sankt Blasien and its districts was on July 15th at the plant at the Sankt Blasien site. The exercise is part of an ongoing training program for the fire brigade and is intended to simulate an emergency as realistically as possible. This is the only way for the fire protection team to check their own protection mechanisms and processes and optimize them if necessary. The local firefighters, who are alerted first in an emergency, were also able to get to know the infrastructure of the company premises on this occasion. This local knowledge creates a valuable head start in the event of a real alarm and helps to better assess the danger situation - an advantage for everyone involved.

The simulated emergency call reached the emergency services at 7:35 p.m.

The factory fire protection team had prepared three different exercise scenarios for the emergency services in Hall 2, home of the compact sweeper line and the incoming goods area.

In the cold hall of the incoming goods department, there was an accident in factory traffic between a forklift and a new Schmidt eSwingo 200+, a fully electric compact sweeper. People were trapped and in shock. The emergency services were also able to train the special handling of electrically powered vehicles.

The second accident scenario was a fire in the acceptance hall. When there was a lot of smoke, the employee working on the machine had lost consciousness and had to be found and rescued in the foggy building. In addition, employees had to be evacuated in offices whose escape route was prevented by the heavy smoke development. The people had to be brought to safety by the emergency services via the escape route to the roof of Hall 2 and the existing escape stairs.

By 8:30 p.m. everyone was rescued and the fire was extinguished. After the briefing, Aebi Schmidt invited everyone involved to a Vesper.

We would like to thank all the emergency services and employees who have contributed to the success of this exercise.
