Aebi TT211 - the Specialist for Golf Course Maintenance

Terratrac in action at Lenzerheide Golf Club (CH)

Maintenance of the grass on a golf course is (almost) a science in its own right. No wonder then that Simon (‘Simi’) Stalder, Head Greenkeeper at Lenzerheide Golf Club in Switzerland, employs a team of 5½ people. From March until well into the autumn, everything revolves around creating the perfect green. From 2020, this will be done with the added support of an Aebi TT 211.

The Lenzerheide Golf Course is regarded as a jewel amongst the old mountain courses in Switzerland. And justifiably so. It offers an alpine panorama, the course itself is certainly hilly but not ‘mountainous’, and its many natural obstacles and few bunkers are reminiscent of a links course. Even though the course isn’t that long (par 69, just under 5,200 m), it still presents players with a challenge and requires well-placed shots and a good game plan. Simi needs these, too, for his daily maintenance of the course.
‘In the last few years, we have reached the limits of what our equipment can achieve. In high season, the course is mowed every day and the mowers need to perform accordingly. We decided on the Aebi TT 211 quite quickly. It impressed us in many different ways. Firstly, it provides us with a great deal of flexibility. Our course is located at an altitude of 1,400 metres. For a golf course, this means a relatively short summer of just six months on average. For us, being able to use the machine all year round is therefore even more important. From mowing, scarifying, harrowing, sowing, aerating, transporting, right through to snow blowing, we can use the Terratrac 365 days a year, which offsets the purchase costs and enables more efficient working. The attachments can be switched in no time at all. The protection of the ground also impressed us. Grass on golf courses has to be driven with great care and requires more than just intuition on the part of the driver. Our golf course has a challenging topography and lots of small slopes. If you are working out there using an aerator with a tare weight of 1 tonne, you need to be able to rely on the implement carrier, whatever the situation. With the TT 211, I no longer have any concerns and I feel completely at ease using it. I also like that the TT 211 is quieter and more comfortable than our other mowers. We are already looking forward to the new addition joining our fleet.’
Simi will deploy the Aebi TT 211 when the new season starts at the beginning of March 2020. We will then visit him again in his new workspace – to be continued…
