The first snowflakes are only a blink of an eye away. The municipality of Teufen in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrohden (CH) was able to receive a new Aebi VT450 Vario in good time before ice and snow take over the streets. Equipped with the latest Euro 6c engine generation and powerful 109 hp, the all-wheel drive vehicle is used in the 6,300 community in both summer and winter. Factory manager Kurt Keller and his six employees are looking forward to working with their new colleague. In winter it is important to ensure safe conditions on 17 km of roads and 23 km of sidewalks in the municipality. There are more than 500 meters of altitude to be overcome, as the operational area extends from 680 to 1100 meters above sea level. In the summer season, the vehicle is used with a removable rear crane for transport and municipal tasks of all kinds. With a permissible total weight of 9.5 tonnes, there are (almost) no limits here, as the VT450 Vario with a payload of 4.2 tonnes is a real load carrier.
With winter service vehicles in particular, customers appreciate the stepless drive and high performance. The constant coupling of other vehicles with manual transmission not only causes high wear and tear on the machine, but is also extremely strenuous and uncomfortable for the driver. The versatility and the high maneuverability in the are further plus points of the VT450 Vario.
