Electricity Purchased from 100% Renewable Energy

Prior to today’s “World Environment Day”, the Federal Statistical Office in Germany reported that in the first quarter of 2020, for the first time ever more electricity was generated from renewable energies and fed into the grid in Germany than from conventional energy sources. Aebi Schmidt also contributed to the increased demand.

In memory of the opening of the United Nations Conference on the Protection of the Environment on June 5, 1972 in Stockholm, today around 150 countries are participating in the “World Environment Day”.  The annual day of action aims to raise awareness that it is above all the human being himself who threatens the diversity and stability of the environment. At Aebi Schmidt we commit ourselves to conducting our business activities in accordance with market, ecological and ethical principles. Ecological and social sustainability along the entire value chain, comprehensive product responsibility, fair working conditions and a clear commitment to the conservation of resources are anchored in our strategy. As far as our machines and technologies are concerned, we have launched Generation E in 2018, a holistic concept that stands for proven technology without emissions.

With the largest European plant in St. Blasien, the logistics centre in Laatzen/Hanover and the service locations spread all over the country, Aebi Schmidt Germany has a double-digit share in the total power consumption of our Group. Since September 2019, all locations in Germany have been supplied with sustainably generated electricity. This means that all winter maintenance and sweeping vehicles are produced using sustainable energy. In total, we save 606 tonnes of CO2 emissions every year. Our fully electrically operated eSwingo 200+ compact sweeper therefore not only saves 158 kg of CO2 every day, it has also only used sustainable resources while being produced.

And we have committed ourselves to successively supplying all units with sustainably generated electricity over the next few years.
