Testing the eSwingo 200+’s Endurance: The City of Thun Is Won Over by the Electric Sweeper

A fully electric eSwingo 200+ has been in use in the city of Thun (Switzerland) since the start of July 2019. The compact sweeper had previously made light work of the 191 kilometre journey from the plant in St. Blasien to Thun – with just one battery charge and zero CO2 emissions to boot. Since then, Urs Fahrni and Andreas Trösch from the Thun municipal maintenance depot have been out and about with their electric associate. After eight weeks, their feedback is in: the machine cuts a convincing figure across the board. The team in Thun are thoroughly impressed by the machine’s sweeping performance, noise reduction, comfort for the driver and performance on hills, even those with a 15% incline. In the mornings, the sweeper starts out with a full battery. After an eight-hour shift, the battery still has 30% to 40% capacity left, with no need for charging in between. The machine is recharged overnight at unbeatably low costs: a full 75 kW battery will only set you back CHF 6.
In our video, watch road maintenance manager Andreas Trösch spend a day working in Thun with the eSwingo 200+ on a number of tricky tasks…
